Aerosoft have just released their latest version of the Professional Edition. Many of our customers asked us if it's worth upgrading to this new version so, for this occasion, we re-released some EPB Benchmarks to compare the two editions. After doing some research on the subject, we donated our time and expertise in order to determine how significant are the differences between both software versions. We will take a deep dive into Aerosoft's latest release and will try to find out if it is actually worth buying or not. We will compare the different platforms to provide you with a clear picture of all the differences. In addition, we will provide you with a list of screenshots for all the highlighted differences. As part of our testing process, we have done what we consider as a "sanity check". Let's see if these changes have been introduced in P3D v4, or if they are just cosmetics. The main change is that Aerosoft has changed the pricing structure from a subscription to a one-off purchase now. In order to provide an accurate analysis, P3D-X has been compared with P3D v4 Professional Edition as it is still fully available for download and is used as reference tool. Please note that the screenshots shown in this article are made using P3D-X 3.5.2. Main Menu The first thing you will see is the new main menu where, when clicked on "Professional", you can see a few items different from P3D v4 Professional Edition: The new "Setup" option is a nice extra addition and will save a lot of time for anyone wanting to configure their aircraft before starting a flight or perhaps to make some adjustments after takeoff or during the flight. This new menu provides information about the aircraft, screen resolution, GPS setup and first-person views. Heading Up To The Surface - 3D View We can see that Aerosoft has changed some of the annotations. This is the first time we see some transparent transparent ovals on the ground. This is quite an interesting idea as it removes any potential obstruction on the ground so you can clearly see what's beneath your aircraft even if it's darker than some other areas of your favorite airport. The new "Landing" view is nice and makes for a better overview of what you're landing on at night or in foggy weather. One criticism of this view is that the lights are white on the ground. We would have preferred them to be some other color so that you have better contrast between them and the aircraft cockpit. The new "View" button has some interesting functions. It can be used to set up your view for use in your next flight. It can also be used to set up your cabin lighting at night, which is quite useful if you are flying over water or foggy areas which are not illuminated very well by default. cfa1e77820
